Gulsoma’ya Sevgilerle / To Gulsoma with Love

Dört yaşındayken bir aileye ‘gelin’ olarak verilen ve orada korkunç işkencelere maruz kalan Afganlı Gulsoma, 11 yaşındayken evden kaçarak canını zor kurtarır ve daha sonra bir yetimhaneye yerleştirilir. Gulsoma’nin hikayesini ‘Çocuk Gelin’ adlı makaleden tesadüfen okuyan Istanbul’daki öğretmen, derste bunu öğrencilerine okutur. Okurken gözyaşlarını tutamayan öğrencilerini gören öğretmen, ödev olarak Gulsoma’ya birer mektup yazmalarını ister.
Bu sevgi ve teselli dolu mektuplari göndermekle başlayan serüven, en nihayet Kabil’deki yetimhanede kalan Gulsoma’ya ve oradaki tüm çocuklara bir yardım kampanyasına dönüşür.

Gulsoma, an Afghani girl, is given as a ‘bride’ at age 4 to a family where she is subjected to unimaginable torture. At age 11, she runs away to escape death and afterwards is placed in an orphanage. When, by chance, the teacher in Istanbul reads about Gulsoma in the article ‘Child Bride’, she gives it to her students to read in class. Upon seeing her students’ misty eyes, she asks them to write Gulsoma a letter as homework.
The journey starts with letters full of affection and consolation and eventually turns into a donation campaign for both Gulsoma and the kids staying in the orphanage in Kabul.
